My First Solo Adventure Abroad | Panama City

Posted by Christina Leigh MorganOn 10/16/2014

En route to Aruba, Copa Airlines had a flight option through Panama City and I decided it would be the perfect opportunity to take the “abroad” step in solo travel — EEK. I’ve spent the past 2.5 years popping around the states on my own and got up to Toronto for a work trip, but this was adventure time for real. I took a one-day layover on each end and it. was. awesome.

Besides all the internal excitement, anxiety and empowerment that comes from stepping into foreign, non-English lands solo for the first time, Panama was my first experience in a 2nd-world country and completely unlike anyplace I’ve yet to see.

Dancing the Night Away in Panama City

Posted by Christina Leigh MorganOn 10/16/2014

After enjoying an awesome dinner at Las Bovedas in Panama City’s Casco Viejo, I headed out to see what the nightlife had in store. I’ve always been a night owl and no longer care about the questionable stares I get whenever I ask around about places open past 2 a.m. I just like to dance people. I’m 25. Maybe one day I’ll get over it, but for now, I’m dancing in streets, on top of tables, in restaurants, wherever… and if you’re judging me — preferably when you’re asleep. Life is for celebrating.

Central and South America are known to have some of the world’s best into-the-next-day nightlife and I was excited to test it out!

Dining Inside a Spanish Gold Vault

Posted by Christina Leigh MorganOn 10/15/2014
las-bovedas

Las Bovedas (the vaults) is a French restaurant at the Plaza de Francia set inside a historical gold storage vault for the Spanish and alleged jail for Manual Noriega. If the history itself isn’t reason enough to go, I’ll tell you that the food quality and service are just as memorable as the ambiance. They bring the large chalkboard menu around to each table to order. I went for sangria and pesca de la marina con vino
