What I Packed: 5 Weeks, 3 Countries + 8 Airports with NO Checked Bags

34 days, 5 cities, 3 countries and 8 airports — with no checked bags.

It sounds like a Real World challenge, but when I was headed off to NYC, Japan + Seoul for my first long-haul trip, I was determined to try my hand at the art of packing light.

To prove it to myself (and document the things that went), I snapped a few pics of the bare essentials that made my bag along the way.

What I packed for 5 Weeks, 3 Countries and 8 Airports with NO checked bags:

Proudly, everything fit tightly into my Samsonite Lifttwo Spinner and a gym-sized duffle.

To be expected, everything in image A was the most-used, and while it was definitely nice to not worry about a checked bag making it through the venture across the world on the way in, I was definitely wishing images C + D had more contents towards the end.

I wore everything except the hiking boots at least twice (and that sweatshirt about 15 time — OYF!). Looking back, I would been better off trading the extra heavy shoes for another pair of jeans and a top.

Now I know for next time!

On to you guys! What makes your bare-bones travel bag?
